Activities of IMAJ

1. Self-Regulatory Activities

  1. We establish self-regulatory rules in the following areas to ensure investor protection:
  2. Fund management, fund accounting, valuation, and disclosure of investment trusts and investment corporations.

Investment management and investment advisory/agency businesses

2. Member Audit and Guidance

Conducting audits, providing guidance, and issuing recommendations to full- members regarding compliance with laws and regulations, as well as their management systems.

3. Proposals and Requests to Regulatory Authorities

Submitting opinions and engaging in negotiations with regulatory authorities on relevant laws and tax systems to promote the sound development of investment trusts, investment management, and investment advisory/agency businesses (hereinafter referred to as asset management businesses).

4. Public Relations Activities

Promoting understanding and awareness of investment trusts and asset management businesses among investors and the general public through public relations activities.

5. Enhancing Member Expertise and Fostering Industry Talent

Conducting various training programs for full - members by inviting officials and experts as lecturers.
Moreover, establishing endowed courses at universities to promote awareness of asset management and foster future professionals in the industry.

6. Public Relations

Compiling and publishing statistics related to the following on our website.

    Contract asset balances of full - members engaged in discretionary investment business.

Also, publishing lists of NISA-eligible products, managing a search library of investment trust products, and providing basic data to investment trust rating agencies.

7. Research and Public Relations

For universities or research institutions, publishing various results of surveys or monitoring indicators to support research on investment trusts and asset building.

8. Initiatives for Asset Management Industry Development

Contributing to the enhancement of long-term corporate value through constructive dialogue with investee companies, and accordingly, hosting the “Stewardship Study Group” since January 2018 to share best practices in stewardship activities and contribute to discussions to be held by relevant government agencies.

9. International Affairs

Participating in meetings of the IIFA (International Investment Funds Association) and sharing information and data with other IIFA members.
Moreover, expressing opinions on various recommendations published by various organizations, such as the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

10. Complaint and Consultation Services

Handling consultations and complaints from investors regarding investment trusts, investment management, and investment advisory/agency services. Also providing mediation services for dispute resolution.
These services are outsourced to the Financial Instruments Mediation Assistance Center (FINMAC), a certified non-profit organization.

11. Duties as a Certified Personal Information Protection Organization

Ensuring the proper handling of personal information by full - members as certified association under Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
Responding to complaints and consultations related to personal information.
